Accommodation in beautifully renovated cottages

INTRODUCTION

The tasteful conversion of the farmyard  between 2003 and 2006 led to the renovation of the farm buildings which are now the Upper and Lower Cottage in the Vale Centre Courtyard. The cottages have been beautifully restored using the original stone and iroco wood. They are well planned and very comfortable and warm with double glazing and modern white units. Being at the end of a No Through road the area is quiet and the courtyard idyllic for children to play in safely and to even explore down to the brook.

Adjacent to the Courtyard is The  medieval Manor House of Stoke Trister dating possibly back to the Domesday Book 1086. It is an area steeped in history. The grounds of the Manor are criss-crossed with ley lines, and there are the outlines of a medieval cockfighting pit and fish ponds. The adjacent land even attracted the attention of the TV Time Team looking for an old Domesday Mill.

Springs pour out of the hillside into a large pond that separates the Courtyard from the Grade 2 listed Manor House making it a magical setting. The Manor and grounds spread out into the fields and woodlands around with many walks on your doorstep. The Cottages are well stocked with walking books, maps and visitors information. The owners can help point you in the right direction.
